What Should You Buy? My Honest Recommendations

This part is based on real usage—no sponsorships, just survival knowledge of a local Korean.

1. Manyo Factory Pure Cleansing Oil

The hype is real. Rub it on your dry face before washing and you get these tiny sebum granules coming off.
If you’re oily or have clogged pores, this is your buddy.

It’s the cleansing oil from Manyo Factory, and it really does the job without any fuss. Pump it onto a totally dry face and start massaging—you’ll feel little bits of sebum rolling off right away. Since too much buildup can lead to breakouts, using it two to three times a week is more than enough.

2. Mediheal Sheet Masks

The classics: Tea Tree, Collagen, Hyaluronic Acid. Single sheets are usually around 1,000 KRW.
A box of 10 is usually slightly over 10,000 KRW, but during sales you can expect it to drop below 10,000 KRW.

I’m not a sheet-mask addict, so I usually pick up a mix of singles rather than a full box.

Mediheal masks. I’ve literally never seen Olive Young skip a discount on these during sale periods. They’re a must-stock-up item every time the sales roll around. You can buy them individually or in a box—so I recommend grabbing a few singles first, trying out the types you like, and then buying the full box once you find your favorite.

3. Spot Patches

Got acne? Spot patches make it vanish. Some types include healing ointment, while others simply cover the pimple to protect it. Olive Young carries tons of reliable brands, and they sell out quickly during sales—so grab them while you can. 이지덤(Easy Derm) and 마데카(Madeca) are most widely used.

These are the spot patches you use on visible pimples. Some designs are cute like the ones in the photo, but most of them are completely clear. If the patch contains ointment, it can look slightly opaque, but the non-ointment ones are super transparent and blend right into your skin to hide the pimple.

4. Bioderma (Especially HydraBio Toner)

Good for people who hate heavy products. I use the toner because I’m super oily and can’t stand sticky textures.
So if you don't like heavy or oily textures, I recommend any Bioderma product but especially the toner.

Bioderma skincare product suitable for oily and combination skin.
Bioderma is great for oily or combination-oily skin. If you’re someone who hates that sticky feeling after applying toner or lotion—and you avoid putting anything on your face because of it—this Bioderma product is a solid choice.

5. Dr. For Hair/Round Lap Shampoo

Great for dandruff, scalp issues, and even mild hair loss. I was really stressed recently and my hair started shedding a lot, but after switching to Dr. For Hair shampoo, the hair fall noticeably decreased. I haven’t tried Round Lab’s shampoo myself, but every guy around me seems to love it. Maybe it just works better for men? I’ve only ever heard positive feedback from them, so take that as a good sign.

6. Aestura ATOBARRIER Cream

Very popular at Olive Young…But here’s a tiny insider tip: Check the pharmacy first. Occasionally the pharmacy price is cheaper, and if not, Olive Young’s sale will give you a great deal.

Skincare product commonly sold in Korean clinics and pharmacies.
This is one of those products you’ll often see displayed in Korean clinics. Since it’s sold in pharmacies and dermatology clinics, I recommend picking one up at the pharmacy after your skincare treatment. When it’s not Olive Young sale season, pharmacies are usually a bit cheaper—but still double-check the price.

Korean cosmetics aren’t one-size-fits-all. But if you follow the sale calendar and stock up during the big events, you’ll save a lot while trying high-quality products. Shop smart and stay glowing.
